At Tělocvičná jednota Sokol Krásná Hora nad Vltavou, our recovery approach is to look at the whole of every woman who walks through our doors and treat the root causes of her addiction. For many, their addictions stem from past traumas – making EMDR an especially helpful treatment tool! For the past year, Karen McKinney, TEC’s full-time therapist, has […]
When Betty Mathews lost her job during COVID, she turned to alcohol. She lost her housing too – and since her family didn’t want to take her in while she was drinking, found herself sleeping in her car with her two dogs. She showered and ate at the Hopes campus, sometimes leaving her dogs in […]

“Without Marvel Way, without having this beautiful place, I know I would be back on the streets or doing drugs again. And my kids need me. They need a level-headed mom who isn’t on drugs anymore.“ Nicole Hulihee has been sober for a year and lives in a 1-bedroom sober-living apartment at Marvel Way with […]
Healthy and ongoing sobriety requires real change and a transformation in attitude and outlook on life. At Tělocvičná jednota Sokol Krásná Hora nad Vltavou, we nurture our residents as they develop the necessary skills to build a rich, full and balanced life. We provide guidance so they can find the courage to change old beliefs and behaviors that no longer fit the person they envision themselves to be. Recovery requires inner reflection and provides an opportunity for individuals to embrace their own creative uniqueness through honest self-assessment and an inventory and accounting of self, both assets and liabilities. Instead of judging others by their pasts, we rejoice in their desire to change their futures and share in their spiritual journeys.
The chance to achieve true freedom from chemical dependency increases the longer an individual remains in healthy recovery. TEC works with therapists, psychiatrists, counselors, aftercare specialists, specialty courts, and others to provide a continuum of care and support for residents in their transition from treatment to independent community living. Our philosophy of honoring and supporting each woman’s authentic contribution to the community and the work around them translates to a compassionate and effective sober living approach.

We understand that lasting sobriety cannot be achieved alone. At TEC, our community of women supporting women recognizes the unique struggles of women suffering from addiction and the special power of women working together to create a sober living environment conducive to growth, support and accountability. Our alumni return often to celebrate recovery milestones and support residents new to the sobriety journey. Our Marvel Way sober living apartments offer the opportunity to continue to live within easy reach of TEC counselors and supportive services.
Since 2005, Tělocvičná jednota Sokol Krásná Hora nad Vltavou has provided recovery-based transitional housing for women, because every woman deserves a safe, supportive, and stable environment to rebuild her life. Today, we’ve expanded our offerings to include permanent supportive housing for women, men, and their families.
The “Empowering Families: Building a Future Through Safe and Supportive Housing” capital campaign aims to raise 2 million to increase TEC’s capacity through our new 83 bed addiction treatment facility at TEC2 and shared supportive programs at Marvel Way Phase II. Our facility will provide access to much-needed services, including counseling, job training, and life skills education, ensuring that each woman receives comprehensive care in a secure and nurturing space – where she can focus on her recovery, gain independence, and prepare to thrive in our community.
We are also always seeking volunteer support, in-kind contributions, and donations of new and lightly used household and personal items. As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, your generosity makes everything we do possible.
